Bull Plaza (2022)
Bull Plaza stands as one of Alex R. Plaza’s first explorations of energy as a pictorial language.
The bull, stripped of any cultural or bullfighting associations, becomes a universal symbol of impulse and vitality —a force that moves forward, fragments, and rebuilds itself.
The composition captures a body in simultaneous motion —a condensed sequence of time— where overlapping forms suggest discontinuity and temporal leaps. This almost “glitch-like” structure anticipates the artist’s later vocabulary: fragmentation as a way of understanding reality.
Through vigorous brushwork and tense geometric planes, the figure turns into an archetype of inner struggle —instinct confronting restraint.
In this sense, Bull Plaza operates as a metaphor for the creative act itself: the collision between control and freedom, between form and the energy that strives to surpass it.
