The Unreachable (2025)
In The Unreachable, Plaza deepens the tension between the human and the abstract through a composition where geometry, gesture, and void interact.
The painting extends the research initiated in Manifesto of the Gesture, adding new symbolic layers where the human gesture reveals itself as resistance, fragility, and desire.
A structure of volumes and folds —a metaphor for a shifting, increasingly artificial society— supports three hands in the foreground.
The main one reaches toward a vermilion sphere, a nucleus of tension and longing that remains just beyond reach. In the background, other blurred hands rise from a violet territory, echoes of a vital impulse that persists beyond the tangible.
The upper half opens into a luminous void built through glazes and transparency —a space that becomes both breath and horizon of transcendence.
With this work, Plaza consolidates the shift of Topographies: a language where the structural and the organic coexist within an emotional cartography that turns gesture into a symbol of resistance.
